Everyday, on the screen, we face images of someone’s works and installation views from an exhibition held somewhere in the world while spending our daily life. We are now able to experience more exhibitions on the screen than visiting them in real life. An archive and publicity are the original purposes for taking the images. They often circulated with some related images and we imagine “the exhibition” through them because they show a sequence like a montage effect of movies. On that occasion, the images make the new experience of an exhibition working beyond an archive or publicity. That is to say, the images generate another exhibition on the screen. The images need not be subordinate to real life, and in the same way, the exhibition comes into an experience no matter how the images are proven to be a real one. |
